Rex Lierly has been designing and fabricating steel furniture since 1988. Operating as Babaloo Art Furniture in the San Francisco Bay area, Rex has sold his unique furniture nationwide to both commercial and residential clients. Projects such as the Westin Hotel in Palm Springs (guest suite tables), Qualcomm Corporate office in San Diego (lobby tables), and Embassy Suites Hotels in Seattle and Detroit (entry lobby tables), demonstrate his ability to provide unique furniture solutions to major commercial clients. Rex has created furniture for numerous private residences nationwide, including pieces for the "Westhope" residence in Tulsa designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Early in his design career, Rex noticed that most furniture being marketed falls into very rigid design niches or styles, anywhere from Early American to L.A. Contemporary. Each of these styles tend to compete with each other, both functionally and aesthetically. Combining influences, such as the linear/geometric designs of architects Frank Lloyd Wright and Bruce Goff, with softer curvilinear elements, Rex has developed a unique style that can easily blend into almost any setting as well as stand on its own. "I want to create furniture that is 'traditionally modern', pieces that are contemporary but not trendy or soon dated. Babaloo Art Furniture functions harmoniously, and aesthetically compliments, almost any interior style while staying true to its unique character."
Working with interior designers and consumers, Rex wants Babaloo Art Furniture to be your preferred source for quality furniture, custom designs and fabrication services.
